Sacred Verse is answering this call by spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ in an innovative way -- via cell phone technology. Our text messages containing sacred Scripture, insights from great saints, and papal reflections on the pressing issues of our times are an ideal way to reach millions of people, especially our teens and young adults who are plugged into their cell phones 24/7.
Keeping Close Those Who Are Far Away
When her daughter left for college, founder of Sacred Verse, Maria Marsella, searched for a way to remain a guiding influence, especially when it came to faith and morals. Keeping God in the center of one's life is a challenge for any college student, and all young people out on their own for the first time. So Maria created a website that allows parents like her to inspire their children to seek what is true and good, even after the children have moved away from home.
But More Than That
While Sacred Verse's weekly text messages are a great way to reach your children, they are not the only ones who can benefit. Your friends and other family members will also appreciate receiving these uplifting passages which can be saved and forwarded to their friends and relatives. Every inspirational text message has the potential to reach countless souls!

WHO WE ARE:
Maria Riz Marsella

The late Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI and Mother Angelica have been masters in communicating the Catholic faith to the modern world. They are the inspiration for Maria founding Sacred Verse.
Maria has been with Ignatius Press for 21 years as art director of Catholic World Report magazine, and graphic designer of over 250 book covers, numerous DVD and CD jackets, and advertising layouts.
Maria said, "You cannot design a good book cover without reading its content. And, you cannot read over 250 great Catholic books without falling deeply in love with Jesus and the Catholic Church."
It is this love that Maria wants to share effectively with her family and friends.
Maria hopes that Sacred Verse will provide parents with text messages that will be a guiding light for their children, and others will also discover them as meaningful reminders to family and friends that life is about seeking the truth and the way to God.
Maria has been happily married for 28 years, has two wonderful children, and an incredibly intelligent German shepherd. She is active in her parish, St. Anselm's Church, in Ross, California.

Edgardo Boncan Herbosa

For the past ten years, Edgardo Herbosa has been driven to effectively create social change through the use of technology. Edgardo has been globally acknowledged as a pioneer social entrepreneur; his ventures have been awarded, and recognized by numerous international agencies.
Sacred Verse is guided by Herbosa's keen social business sense, and extensive knowledge in start-ups. Edgardo's mission is to enable the underprivileged to have access to financial services.
Edgardo was a fellow at the Global Social Benefit Incubator Program at Santa Clara University and at the Reuter's Digital Vision Program at Stanford University. His E-commerce for Farmers Program was awarded a grant from the World Bank Development Marketplace Competition 2002 and the Stockholm Challenge 2004. Edgardo is a recipient of The Outstanding Young Men Award for Community Development 2005 - the most prestigious award given to a Filipino under 40 years old.

Kerry Barlow
Business Development, Director
Kerry Barlow comes to Sacred Verse with a background in non-profit management and fund raising.
In particular, Kerry's strength lies in identifying possible strategic alliances to further organizational mission, and expand scope of funding.
Kerry is excited to be a part of the Sacred Verse team while applying her background in non-profit, and development communication. She is grateful to be able to contribute to Sacred Verse with the gifts she has been blessed with.
